NSWC Philadelphia has recently completed a draft firezone door performance specification. It will be submitted for stakeholder review. The final Specification is expected to be issued in 2009.
Problem:
Firezone and Joiner Doors do not have adequate specifications and components such as closures and hinges require constant maintenance.

Solution:
MTTC, in conjunction with the Navy and industry, will analyze both military and commercial specifications and standards to identify potential product insertions. If required, testing will be conducted to confirm operational suitability.

Fleet Impact:
By specifying system requirements and identifying compliant components, ship interior door maintenance will be substantially reduced.

Applications:
All classes of ships.
