MTTC assists the Military Services by conducting studies, demonstrations and operational testing of new technologies that may be suitable for field insertion. These concepts may result in new capabilities, improvements in existing capabilities and/or reduced operational and maintenance requirements. MTTC assesses the maturity of the product, process or procedure to determine its current viability. As tasked, MTTC conducts controlled testing ashore and, if necessary, testing in operational field units. MTTC works closely with the Services’ technical communities and engineering agents to adequately address all potential issues.
Specific examples of analysis:
- Verify manufacturer claims
- Verify military utility (such as reliability, shock, vibration, EMI, etc.)
- Validate operational effectiveness
- Technology searches and reviews.
When possible, MTTC leverages off its partner, the National Surface Treatment Center (NST Center). The NST Center is a comprehensive resource for information and solutions to corrosion problems for the military and industry. The NST Center operates an information portal website (www.nstcenter.com) about the coatings industry and corrosion, and provides consulting and quality assessment services to the Navy and the surface coatings industry.
